To Stress or to Progress?

I saw the image to the left on photobucket today, and it made me start thinking. Of course, I had seen the image before; it is a fairly popular internet image.

I can't speak for all of you, but for me math has always been, and always will be, a very difficult subject for me. Would it not be wonderful if all you had to do to find 'x' was to point to it on your piece of paper? Even more, it would sometimes be great if life were that easy.

However, we all know that life is never easy. Sometimes we get so caught up in our own hardships, that we do not even think of the rewards that have come out of our previous hardships. Sure, I am not good at math. There are people who are though. It would be extremely hard to function in today's world without knowing any math.

If all anyone had ever done was simply point to 'x' then we would still all be cavemen walking around in animal skins, and cooking raw meat over a fire. Life revolves around difficulty and stress, but that is what makes life, life. Just think: if we didn't have all of that difficulty and stress, then we would never progress either!

To progress is to stress. That is the paradigm I go by. It'd be nice if when we couldnt find the solution to our problems we could break out our calculator and hit "solve."
