Life Lesson #11 PLEASE be Polite :)

Life Lesson #11:  PLEASE be polite.  :)

You know what I love?  I love it when people are polite.  It really isn't all that hard, yet I run into people almost every day who are completely uncouth or rude.  How hard is it to say, "please" and "thank you" or "you're welcome"?  Does it really take that much brain power?  No!  The amount of effort it takes?  Slim to none.  So why does it seem like there are so few polite people left these days?  Is America really that lazy?  I'm starting to wonder.  No, we do not all have to be like the southern gentleman who says "yes ma'am" and "no sir".  It might be a nice ideal to live up to, but lets be honest with ourselves.  How many of us actually speak that way?  Not me, that's for sure.  However, I always try to say "Nice to meet you," when I am introduced to someone new.  I generally make sure to say "thank you" when someone holds open the door for me...especially when it is someone I do not know that well.  In my opinion, that is how to be polite.  We all slip up at one point or another.  I do, however, try to be polite - especially when I am making a first impression.  Remember, first impressions often stick.  How will you make your first impression?

Don't Forget to Remember Me - Carrie Underwood

Suddenly - Superchick

19 and Crazy - Bomshel

Teenagers - My Chemical Romance

Fingerprints - Katy Perry

The Party Scene - All Time Low

In Fate's Hands - The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

Forget and Not Slow Down - Relient K

Fruit Loops R Us

Have you ever seen, heard, or read the saying, "In a world of Cheerios, be a Fruit Loop!"? Well, I did not make it up, and I have no idea who did. I have seen it, though, many times. It really makes me think. The world is full of 'Cheerios.' By that, I mean the world is full of people who want to act like someone else, dress like someone else, and essentially want to be like everyone else. I am not saying I have never been guilty of acting like someone else. We all do it to some extent at some point in our lives. However, when you are completely changing who you are, and making yourself miserable, that is just going a little too far in my opinion.

There is so much diversity in the world. America is known for its diversity. So many people, nowadays, want to stick to their closed-minded beliefs that they grew up with and not figure out who they are as an individual. They are the person that everyone else turned them into, or they are who they think others want to see them as.

The thing is, the world is not meant to be black and white. There are a countless number of colors that exist in the world! We should not let the 'Cheerios' in our lives pull us down! It is their loss, not ours, if they choose to be a Cheerio. Now, do not take this in the wrong way. I am not telling you that you should change the type of breakfast cereal you eat. That really has nothing to do with it. I am just saying be the burst of color in a world that is becoming so bland! Be the smiling face in a world full of frowns! Most of all: be *YOURSELF* in a world of people who are trying to be anything but!!!!!

Our Differences Are Breaking Us Apart.

Why must there be so many arguments over politics? We all say we are working for peace, but we are just having more and more fights. I know politics are an essential part of our society, but they are breaking us apart. I do not believe friendships should be broken over politics, but they are all the time.

Look at all of the derogatory campaign adds with the elections going on. Some of the commercials are just plain mean. As I mentioned earlier, we are working towards peace. However, if we are truly trying then why does the campaigning become so darn mean? I know that people have strong feelings against certain candidates, but that is no reason for violence or broken friendships.

I have noticed lately the very diverse views people have on politics, and it has made me think. I think it is great that we are all allowed to have our varying views on things like the election; it's America for crying out loud! I just do not think that politics should make us hate or dislike anyone. I do not think that just because someone has different views than someone else that violence or cruelty should be the last resort.
