Dear World

I am sorry I have not written in so long.  I keep meaning to write, but life keeps getting in my way.  Between school, rehearsals, and my social life, I just haven't had much time.  However, I will try to write very soon.  God knows I need to.  Please don't give up on me yet!  :)

Drama Queenitis

*Note: While reading this blog, press the "play" button on the video at the bottom of this post, and listen to the song it plays, as you read this blog. :) The song is called "Drama Queen" by Family Force 5!

You just graduated from high school. You think all the drama's over, right? WRONG! With all the social networking websites, the drama can, and most likely will, continue! There will always be those drama queens and kings that make you cringe whenever you think of them.

I hate to tell you, but college isn't going to be much better unless you make it better! It's all up to you, whether the rest of your life is fun and happy, or drama filled and depressing. There will always be those people who try to drag you down, but they just want your attention. They don't necessarily care whether you give them good or bad attention. These kinds of people are just so self-centered, they want all eyes to be on THEM. Whether you are congratulating them, feeling sorry for them, complimenting them, or dissing them, they are happy. However, sometimes they still appear unhappy, to gain more attention. Maybe this is just my own theory, and far from the truth, but I have a tendency to believe myself! :)

What should you do about these snarky, ignorant, jerks, you ask? Ignore them! You will tick them off, and at the same time, you will not be wasting your breath on a useless cause!

Don't Regret; Dream.

What was your dream?  I'm not talking about the nighttime fantasies you have had while you were soundly asleep.  You know, that wonderful plan you had for your life when you were just a little tyke.  What was it?

I have had many dreams throughout my lifetime.  I've wanted to be everything from a first grade teacher to an astronaut, a flight attendant to a psychologist, a veterinarian to an actress, a graphic designer to a tap dancing opera singer - though that phase was fairly short lived. ;)

However, dreams are not just about a future occupation.  It is about what you most want to accomplish in your lifetime.  It is about the little things that make you smile.  It is about knowing how much potential your life has.

We must not just put our dreams from childhood into the bottom of a messy desk drawer.  Too many people do this, and regret it later on. Try to fulfill all of your biggest dreams in life - whether they are big dreams or little dreams.  If your dream fails you, at least you will have tried. You will always wonder if you never try. I know we have had this ingrained into our brains since the first day of kindergarten, but it is the truth!  You just have to keep on dreaming, and live your dreams. :)

Coexist: Stop Judging, Start Loving.

For some reason, I have been thinking about the word "coexist" lately.  I decided to look it up on the online Merriam-Webster Dictionary, and this is the two definitions it gave me:

1: to exist together or at the same time

2: to live in peace with each other especially as a matter of policy

I, myself, liked the second definition best.  I believe strongly in tolerating everyone, whether you agree with their lifestyle or not.  It is just common courtesy to be friendly to everyone, and acknowledge that every individuals opinion matters.

As I said, I have been thinking about coexisting quite a bit lately - what it means, and what it entails.  However, the reason I made the decision to write on this topic, today particularly, is because a fellow blogger informed me in her post that today is National Coming Out Day.  Cate wrote a wonderful blog on tolerating other people, and accepting them.  While I do not personally belong to the LGBT community, I have many friends who do.  I also have friends of other religions, races, social classes, and backgrounds.  I support them all 100 percent - not necassarily because I agree with every single thing they do, but because they are my friend.  They are a human being, as am I.  I want to be treated equally and with respect, so why shouldn't I treat them the way I would like to be treated?

Coexisting is such a powerful word to me.  People have bumper stickers, clothes, and even tattoos - all dedicated to that one word.  I know what it means to me, but what does it mean to you?  Do you believe in coexisting?  Do you ever find yourself judging someone of another religion, race, sexual orientation, or even someone who is just a little different than you?  Well, today I just have one request for all of you:  stop judging, and start loving.  We all need to learn how to coexist with one another, and the world would be a much better place if we could.  Whether you are a Christian or not, there is one Bible passage I believe all of us should try to live by.  Romans 12:21 says, "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."  So, stop judging, start loving.

For the Love of Theatre!

"There's no people like show people

They smile when they are low

Even with a turkey that you know will fold

You may be stranded out in the cold

Still you wouldn't change it for a sack of gold

Let's go on with the show"     -Irving Berlin

Acting:  my anti-drug.

Sometimes, it's the only thing that keeps me going...
